The Business of Success

Ideas put in action are powerful. But when those activities are channeled in the right ways, the effects can be unstoppable.

By combining relentless effort with the disciplines of business, incredible rewards can be gained for all involved.

Mary Hatch is one who represents this dynamic each day.

Powerful Focus

As a Broker Associate with West and Main Home Oklahoma, Mary helps others achieve more than they thought was possible through tapping into the business of success.

“I love working with clients and what I really love is the business side of real estate. I can teach people how to sell real estate but teaching people how to run a business is the key to success,” Mary explains. “It’s a lot of work. We have to wear a lot of hats. It’s about running your business and having a pipeline to keep it going.”

Finding Her Path

Mary started in real estate through her ownership of a staging company called This Staged Space in 2011. She had a background in design. At the time she started the business, there were only two stagers including me in OKC.

“I went to a conference in California and saw these stagers who also had their licenses. I got my real estate license, too,” she recalls. “I did over 20 transactions that first year. It was such a good fit for me.”

Gaining Ground

After being an agent for two years, Mary immediately got her Broker’s license. She worked with a partner, Jarred Smith, and was co-founder and managing Broker of Dwell Urban Real Estate. She launched a coaching company last year, Luxury of You, specializing in coaching agents in the luxury real estate market.

West and Main Home Oklahoma has two offices … one in Edmond and one in the Paseo District of OKC with 46 agents.

When you talk with Mary, one of the big points of pride that Mary has involves the agents on her team. Through time, she has sold a lot of real estate (over $100 million in sales volume representing more than 300 units) and has trained a large number of agents, including five who have gone on to become Brokers in their own right.

Wonderful Life

Family is at the foundation of Mary’s life. She treasures time with her husband, Perry, their two daughters, Sophia and Hannah, and her granddaughter, Hendrix.

In her free time, Mary loves creating and nurturing businesses. She also has a passion for her real estate niche involving historical properties.

“We live in Crown Heights. I love anything to do with old houses and learning about them,” Mary says. “I love going through them and figuring out how they’ve been redone.”

When it comes to giving back, Mary serves on the board of directors of Focus on Homes … an organization that partners with REALTORS® for donations for furniture for women.

Leading by Example

Mary also offers helpful advice for those who are considering real estate for their own career path.

“First and foremost, be sure that you show up to work every day. Take it seriously, and invest the same time in the business as if you were working for someone,” Mary says. “It’s a tough business right now. My best advice would be to really double down.”

Mary also encourages others to be open to possibilities in an active way. She points to  a book by Elizabeth Gilbert called Big Magic

“The universe is a very giving place, but you have to open to it. Sometimes we embrace those and sometimes we send them away. I’ve seen the magic happen in my own business.”

Congratulations to Mary Hatch for the powerful impact she continues to have on her clients, team members and community through time. In the process, she unlocks new levels of achievement with a focus on the business of success.
