For nearly 20 years, Lindsey Bunch held dual careers: one as a teacher and another as a real estate agent. While many successful agents advise against doing real estate part-time, Lindsey’s continued success proved her doubters wrong. Year after year, she was able to thrive in both professions.
However, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, both industries were upended. Public schools were shuttered, forcing classrooms into a virtual environment. Simultaneously, the real estate industry took off.
“I didn't want to be on a computer. I wanted to be with kids, but it was time for me to focus on real estate,” Lindsey reflects.
That year, Lindsey left her teaching career to put her full attention on real estate. It’s also the year she founded LB Realty Group with Metro Brokers of Oklahoma, a group that’s now 16 agents strong.
“I wanted to be able to work for myself and have the opportunity to teach other REALTORS® how to do this business well,” Lindsey continues. “And as a broker, I get to do that.”
From Teaching to Real Estate
Lindsey grew up in Midwest City. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in family and child development from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2001 and earned a master’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2014. She began her teaching and real estate careers shortly after graduating with her bachelor’s degree in 2001.
For nearly 20 years, she was a teacher and real estate agent.
“I’ve always done two or three jobs at a time since I was in middle school,” Lindsey explains. “That work ethic started at a young age because I come from a family of hard workers.”
Although Lindsey no longer teaches in the school system, she continues to use the skills she honed as an educator. Real estate is, by nature, a consultative position. As a team leader and broker, she also has the opportunity to educate her agents.
“In real estate, you get the opportunity to help other people and teach first-time buyers about the process of buying. You get to educate all kinds of buyers and sellers about how to do it best,” Lindsey explains. “As a teacher, you are more than a teacher. You're a mentor and a counselor, and real estate is the same way. I am much more than my clients’ REALTOR®. I am their friend, their counselor, and their confidant. I work with families facing death and divorce, people growing families and having babies, and more. You get to be a big part of people’s lives.”
Thriving in Real Estate
Today, Lindsey leads LB Realty Group with Metro Brokers of Oklahoma. The group’s culture is family-oriented, supportive, and encouraging. Lindsey values fun and laughter, too; enjoying her work is one of her top priorities.
In 2023, LB Realty Group closed $45.9 million, while Lindsey closed $18.9 million individually.
“Our vision is to continue what we’re doing now because we do it well. We want to continue educating ourselves, stay up on different ways to market and use technology, and continue to serve people well. I pride myself on great communication skills and being honest. We are doing that well, and I don't want to change too many things,” Lindsey explains.
Lindsey is especially proud of the group of agents she works alongside: Elecia Allen, Hayley Eades, Lori McKay, Kristy Mitchell, Skyler Mitchell, Christina Quirk, Glenn Quirk, Bill Robison, Vanessa Robison, Jill Stephens, Monica Walton, Kevin Williams, Jason Sherman, Rebecca Elrod, and Sholeh Keeler.
Leaving a Legacy
Outside of work, you’ll find Lindsey with her family. She and her fiance, Chad, have a blended family with four children: Lindsey’s sons Braxton (17) and Briggs (13) and Chad’s daughters Cambrey (18) and Reagan (22). Lindsey enjoys staying involved in the local schools and giving back to the community through volunteering and donating. She’s also a devout Christian, giving all the glory to God and all the blessings He has provided.
“More than anything, I want people to remember me for being willing to help other people,” Lindsey shares. “I want to be known for being giving and for being kind, honest, and good to people. I want to show my boys that hard work pays off. Life is about the relationships you build and how you treat others.”
