In 2019, Kye and Kendall Keefe picked up their lives and moved across the country. Their mission was clear—to embark on a new adventure and follow their dreams of creating a business to provide for their family and serve the broader community. So, they set out for Oklahoma with their two young children in tow.

“Since before we were married, we've encouraged each other to do big things,” Kendall shares. “It was an opportunity for us to grow together as a couple and family and get out of our comfort zone. We took a risk, and it’s been rewarding in many ways.”

Five years later, Kye and Kendall are thriving. The company they founded—Thunder Moving—has quickly become one of Oklahoma City’s most well-respected moving outfits. Thunder Moving is proud to be a family-owned, independent, and integrity-driven company.

From the Ground Up

Before moving to Oklahoma, Kye was working as a personal trainer. One of his clients owned a moving company and recognized potential in Kye to be a business owner. Kye felt that God may be leading his family to open a moving company of their own.

“Kye and I looked at the map to identify areas that were lacking locally-owned, small moving companies who were thriving,” Kendall explains. “And there really weren’t too many in the state of Oklahoma.”

Kye and Kendall decided to take a leap of faith.

“My granddad's cousin lived in Edmond, so we visited and decided to move to Oklahoma City. They were the only people we knew in the metro area. We moved from Kentucky, where we were born and raised, with our children, ages two and four months old at the time,” Kendall continues. “It was a big move. We were excited about the opportunity. It was hard work, but things easily fell into place. Looking back now, we realize how it all unfolded so smoothly.”

Thunder Moving has grown tremendously over the last five years. What started as Kye in a moving truck and Kendall supporting on the back end has grown to a strong group of movers and a dedicated management team.

“One of the main goals we had was to provide others with opportunity and for our employees to have a good, healthy working environment they enjoyed coming to every day,” Kendall shares. “I was a social worker for ten years before moving to Oklahoma, so I have experienced harsh working environments. We wanted to give our employees a positive and encouraging atmosphere in which to work.”

Thunder Moving’s aim is to give every client a positive moving experience. As a locally owned company entrenched in the community, they have the ability to handle any move and personalize the services offered. Thunder Moving is building a foundation that can handle continued growth by investing in the team and its processes. They also give back by donating trucks and labor to local non-profit organizations like Fostering Sweet Dreams and Focus on Home.

Right at Home

Kye and Kendall feel at home in Oklahoma, too. They moved to Tulsa in 2021 and founded a moving company there in 2022, but they maintain their roots in the Oklahoma City community. Kye and Kendall travel to Oklahoma City weekly to ensure the company is operating efficiently.

“It’s been really good to be in Oklahoma,” Kendall smiles. “It’s been freeing to be somewhere new. We found a home church and many friends who have turned into family. The people here are so friendly and hospitable. Oklahoma has a huge array of outdoor offerings—parks, lakes, creeks, and trails. We like to be outside and active. That has always been something we wanted for our family.”

Since moving to Oklahoma, Kye and Kendall made an addition to their family and now have three children: Norah (8), Lila (6), and Tobias (1). They also enjoy working out and traveling.

As Kye and Kendall look ahead, they remain focused on providing a positive working environment for their employees and making a difference in the communities they serve. As a family, they enjoy living in the moment and making lasting memories.

“For a long time, we were focused solely on growing our business and making sure it was going to be successful. Now, we’re turning our attention to being in the moment, enjoying the process, and trusting in what God has in store for us.”
