Proof Positive

It doesn’t take long to find examples of negativity and darkness in the world.

At the same time, it’s clear to see the impact that your positive efforts have for those you serve … with care and dedication.

Strength of Purpose

Tara Porter brings that same strong spirit to those she comes in contact with, as well.

Tara is a REALTOR® with Lime Realty. She also is the president of the National Association of Hispanics Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP).  Along the way, she has a love for being able to help clients with one of the largest purchases in their lives.

“I appreciate the fact that people trust me and believe in me to help them. I value relationships,” Tara says. “Nothing is more gratifying than sitting with them and handing them the keys and seeing their tears of happiness.”

Making a Difference

Tara especially enjoys working with first-time buyers and members of the military.

“My dad was a retired Vietnam Navy veteran. I have my Military Relocation Professional Certification,” she says. “I’m helping veterans get into new homes and first-time buyers who didn’t think they would be able to get into a home.”

Tara earned her real estate license in March 2022. She started in new home construction and worked for a builder. When the pandemic hit, Tara was working in Internet sales. Then her mother became ill, so Tara decided that she needed to come up with a way to free up her schedule a bit so that she could take care of her mother. In turn, she decided to move forward with real estate.

A Clear Impact

It didn’t take long for Tara to make her presence in the industry known. In fact, she earned OKMAR Rising Star during her first year.

Family is the foundation of life for Tara.

“I lost my mom in 2022. I am a single mom, and I have my kids’ dad that has been very helpful. I have a very positive mindset and a lot of faith. I left my job in Internet sales,” Tara says. “My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She fell and broke her hip and she never recovered after the surgery. We had lost my father 14 years ago. It was really trying. I prayed about it and I knew that God was providing a path.”

After the loss of her mother, it was a trying time. Tara remembers a pivotal conversation.

“I called my Broker, Jared Kennedy. I was crying and he told me that I could do it and I needed to stop the negative self-talk,” Tara says. “After that conversation, something snapped. I took off right away. If it wasn’t for Jared, I’m not sure that I would be in this position.”

Wonderful Life

Away from work, Tara treasures time with her family. She has a passion for being with her kids — daughter, Kenzie; daughter, Chloe; son, Kai; and daughter, Aaliyah.

The drive that Tara has to help those she serves is powerful. She is aided by her children, who she says keeps her accountable. It’s not unusual to also see them helping her put out fliers for open houses.

Her positivity is known far and wide.

“I always try to remain positive in every situation. For example, when working with first-time buyers, I have patience with them and help them understand the process while providing them education,” Tara says. “My parents were amazing. I grew up in a very loving home. Very cheerful. I always try to have a positive outlook.”

Tara is a 2023 Leadership Academy graduate and is on the Board of Directors for OKMAR.

Those who have a chance to know and work with Tara appreciate her approach to life and business.

“If you let your mindset get you down, it can be a deal breaker for you,” Tara emphasizes. “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change.”

Day by day, Tara Porter is fully engaged with her community and her clients to help them realize their dreams of homeownership for the future. In the process, she is proof positive of the powerful difference that one motivated individual can make in the world.
