No Shortcuts to Success

When Angie Baughman-Miller moved from small-town Kansas to Oklahoma in August 2016, she was searching for new beginnings. With her young son in tow, she transitioned her real estate sales business to The Sooner State while building a new community.

Angie never imagined that three years later, she’d be leaving her role as a REALTOR® behind to become a mortgage lender, but that’s just what she did in 2019 — and she couldn’t be happier with how things unfolded. Over the past four years, Angie has made a name for herself as an authentic, integrity-focused mortgage lender who continually puts people over profits.

The Path to Mortgage Lending

Angie began her real estate career in property management in Kansas. In 2015, she followed her sister-in-law into real estate sales, starting the next step on her professional journey. Angie achieved relative success in Kansas before moving to Oklahoma, where she was faced with rebuilding her business. Again, Angie proved that hard work paves the way to success.

“I moved down here intending to stay for a year. I was 24 years old and wanted to learn about myself as an adult, as a mom, and help create a future for myself and my son,” Angie reflects. “Oklahoma City is the closest big city to my hometown, so it made sense. I'd been here before, and people were always so nice.”

While Angie intended to move back to Kansas, she never did. Instead, she fell in love with Oklahoma City.

“The people are what got me,” Angie continues. “Everyone here can be so different but so kind. I'm from a town of less than 1000 people. There are not a lot of free thinkers and diversity in a farm town or opportunity. Here, you see all kinds of people, but everyone is so kind. It's a homey feeling here.”

In 2019, Angie began talking to Kurt Swink, owner of Financial Concepts Mortgage. She asked if he thought she was cut out for the lending business, and he confirmed she was. As it turns out, Kurt was right. Angie has become one of Oklahoma City’s most well-respected top-producing mortgage professionals.

The Experience of a REALTOR®

Angie’s experience as a REALTOR® is invaluable to her work as a mortgage lender. She understands the trials and tribulations real estate agents experience. She knows how important each client is and how to treat them right.

“The foundation of my business was to be the lender I wanted when I was a REALTOR®,” Angie says. “I answer my phone. I work on weekends.”

Angie also has a passion for serving clients from all backgrounds. She’s not looking to cherry-pick the most straightforward deals but rather help every individual and family that walks in the door.

“I take care of people who aren't an easy ‘yes.’ I come from extremely humble beginnings. Not everyone looks good on paper, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth our time and guidance. I'm a woman of faith, and I'm out here to play a small role in the goodness of life, and this is what I'm good at,” she continues.

Angie prides herself on being a trusted resource for REALTORS® and clients alike. Her communication is second to none, as is her commitment to working with care and humility. She aspires to be a person of high integrity, fully knowing there is no shortcut to the top.

“At the end of the day, I try not to overcomplicate things. I bring warmth and welcoming. I love others, take care of people, love Jesus, and work in the hardest and most honest ways I can.

Outside Work

Angie is a woman of faith, a mom, a wife, and a huge sports fan. Her son, Layton (8), and stepson, Ethan (14), keep her plenty busy with sports. Although she and her husband, Scott, root for different college sports teams, they share a passion for Jesus, sports, family, and life.
