“I don’t dream of making lots of money, closing a certain number of units, or achieving a certain production goal, but I do dream of helping a lot of people. Helping people is where I feel a sense of fulfillment and joy. Maybe I am crazy, but if I am supposed to be a successful mortgage banker, I only want that success to come from helping people.”

In January 2022, Cheryl Blice joined Flat Branch Home Loans, and she has been tasked with opening the company’s Oklahoma City market. With Flat Branch Home Loans, Cheryl hopes to grow a team of talented, compassionate mortgage professionals. Most importantly, Cheryl wants to make a positive impact in her community and her clients' lives.

“We live, work, and play in the communities that we serve,” Cheryl says. “Our involvement in our communities drives our passion for equipping you and your families with the best possible home buying experience.”

Earning her Stripes

From 2004 to 2014, Cheryl worked in retail banking. During this time, she first fell in love with consumer lending, and by association, real estate.

“My time spent in banking opened a new door into the real estate [industry] via financing,” Cheryl reflects. “I really found my passion in lending in 2008 when I started helping my banking clients with home equity loans.”

One of Cheryl's clients refinanced the equity in their home to adopt a child from another country. Two other clients refinanced their homes to pay off a large amount of personal debt and improve their quality of life. A third client wanted to start investing in rental properties, so he leveraged his equity to build long-term wealth.

“I was 25 when I realized I wanted to specialize in mortgage lending,” Cheryl continues. “I continued my work in retail banking for several more years and took every opportunity I could to learn more and more about the mortgage industry.”

In 2014, Cheryl took a break from the banking industry to open two nutrition centers, where she offered health, wellness, fitness, and business coaching. In 2017, she sold her business and rejoined the financial industry — this time, focusing her energy on residential mortgage lending.

Living with Compassion

Compassion has always been a key element of Cheryl’s work. She was raised in the Oklahoma City metro area, and her father worked in the ministry. Her parents opened a home for unwed mothers, abused children, and troubled teens, and took part in ample mission work.

Growing up in the ministry has profoundly impacted Cheryl’s life. It’s taught her the value of building a strong community, and it’s taught her how to hold compassion for people from all walks of life.

“I also believe that, in a way, this is why helping people buy their own home is so meaningful,” she says. “My ability to understand and relate to many different family and lifestyle situations helps me to provide a personalized approach to every family I work with.”

As Cheryl reflects on her journey, she taps into a deep sense of gratitude. She believes that both personally and professionally, she is exactly where she is meant to be.

“My whole life has been full of God’s grace, and I carry that with me every day, and into all of my relationships, personal and professional. While I have experienced my share of ups and downs, I strongly believe that my faith in Christ and dedication to my family have gently guided my life and career choices.”

Family Highlight

Outside work, you’ll find Cheryl spending time with her husband. Jonathan, and two children, Tara (17) and Jake (16).

Cheryl raised her family in her childhood home for the last 15 years and recently finished custom building her dream home, which was years in the making. Jonathan is a co-owner of Three Kings Construction, and he and Cheryl own a property management and remodeling company, BliceCo. Property and Designs.
