AT 22 YEARS OLD, THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT
“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive — and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
— Maya Angelou
At just 22 years old, Mireya Cruz Velasco is taking the Oklahoma City real estate community by storm. She began her real estate career at 19, and her work ethic, passion, and compassion have driven her towards early success. In the years to come, she hopes to continue to build upon her real estate dreams.
Getting to Know Mireya Cruaz Velasco
Mireya was born and raised in the small town of Montrose, Colorado. She’s a first-generation American; her parents are from Aguascalientes, Mexico.
At 14, Mireya moved to Oklahoma City to start a new life with her mother and siblings. At first, she resisted the move to Oklahoma City, but she’s warmed to the city over the years. Now, she considers Oklahoma City her “forever home.”
Mireya’s upbringing helped her become the strong, independent woman she is today. At the age of 15, she began working full-time. By the following year, she was able to purchase a car in cash — a life-defining moment for her.
“It was such a humbling and life-changing experience and a very bittersweet moment. When you work so hard for something you've wanted forever — it is such a milestone for me to achieve at such a young age that I will never forget. Once I set my mind to something, I always try my best to accomplish it.”
Becoming a REALTOR®
Mireya graduated from Putnam City West High School in 2017 and promptly began working as a loan officer. She stayed there for two years before getting her real estate license.
“I did get the idea of becoming a REALTOR® one day and just imagined myself buying my own home eventually. Other REALTORS®’ success really got me inspired and interested in the career.
Mireya understood that it wouldn’t be easy to get started as a young adult, but she was up for the challenge.
“I knew it wasn't going to be easy starting out at the age of 19. I finally came to the conclusion to go for it … [It] was the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Today, Mireya is thriving with Keller Williams Green Meadow. She sold 18 units in 2021, her best year to date.
Beyond the Office
Outside real estate, Mireya lives a family-oriented lifestyle. She and her family enjoy their Hispanic traditions during holidays and often travel to Mexico during the summer.
“We have fun and enjoy the amazing food and friends we have in our small town in Mexico,” Mireya beams.
Mireya can also be found spending time with her boyfriend, Alex, and her two dogs, Mia and Pablo. She enjoys cooking and working out.
Taking her Strength into the Future
Mireya wants to be remembered as a young, outgoing, bilingual real estate agent who didn’t give up when the going got tough. She is driven and passionate about obtaining success for herself, her family, and others. Although she’s just 22 years old, she’s already accomplished so much.
As Mireya looks ahead, she holds a sense of excitement for what’s to come.
“What I hope the future holds for me is success in life and to continue to be happy with life no matter what. I eventually, one day, will start my own family and purchase my dream home, which is one of my goals first. In real estate, I want to continue to grow more as a business and expand my clientele and eventually make my own team in real estate, which will take time.
“Starting real estate at the age of 19 has only made me stronger, smarter, independent, driven, and passionate to help all my family and friends and clients in anything. The progress of growth and learning every day is something I am very proud of myself for building my own empire from the bottom.”
