FEATURED TEAM

Over the past six years, HomeTeam405 has set the Oklahoma City real estate market on fire. In that time, they’ve closed 669 transactions for nearly $230 million, including 125 transactions for over $55 million in 2021. Keller Williams Central OK has recognized them for their outstanding production every year, culminating with being named the top group in GCI and units in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

But the statistics don’t tell the whole story. Behind the impressive numbers are five women with unique stories, skills, and personalities. It’s taken each of their efforts to create the success of HomeTeam405.

Founders Laurie Patterson and Laura Robertson both comment that finding the right team members has been their greatest challenge as business owners. The current group, which has been together since 2016, has proven to be the ideal mix.

“Hiring the right team members – it took a little while, but we have put together the perfect group.” Laurie beams.

Beginnings

The story of HomeTeam405 begins in 2010 when Laurie found her way into real estate after a successful 25-plus-year radio and advertising sales career. In 2011, Laura started her real estate career after a 28-year career as a prominent court reporter.

While they built their businesses separately, the two soon became friends. One weekend, Laurie asked Laura to take calls while she was out of town, beginning what has become a long-term partnership.

“While she was out of town, my phone never stopped ringing! So, I realized quickly I was working with an amazing REALTOR®,” Laura remembers. “We covered for each other a few times before deciding to share the cost of an assistant/marketing specialist. During that time, we realized that we ran our businesses very similarly and decided to merge together as a team.”

Laurie and Laura officially became a team in 2014.

“Hard to believe eight years have passed,” Laura continues. “I've loved every minute.”

Building a Powerhouse Team

One year after Laurie and Laura joined forces, they began expanding the team. Becky Watson joined as the team’s Transaction Coordinator in June 2015, bringing over 15 years of experience as a TC with her. In October 2015, Kim Scoggin joined as a buyer’s agent; she transitioned to become a REALTOR® after a nine-year career in staging, and in December 2015, Christy Grigsby joined as the Director of Operations, completing the current HomeTeam405 team.

Every member of the team brings a different background and set of strengths. That allows each person to stay in her lane and trust that their clients are best served.

“We approach our work lives together like we approach our work with clients,” Christy says. “Respect and communication are key. We care for and trust each other. We hold each other up and hold each other accountable.”

The result is that clients of HomeTeam405 get five licensed REALTORS® on their team.

Laurie and Laura are the team’s listing and pricing experts. Every listing is a collaborative effort, which gives sellers the benefit of two great listing minds. Kim is a Buyer’s Specialist, Becky is the Transaction Coordinator, and Christy spearheads the backend of the business as the Director of Operations.

“[The most rewarding part of the business is] building a family, not just a business team,” Laurie says.

Resting in Gratitude

As we closed our interview, we asked the founders of HomeTeam405 what their goals for the future look like. In place of expansive goals and concrete numbers, both women expressed immense gratitude for what they have already accomplished.

“My goal looking into the foreseeable future is to maintain our current level of business,” Laurie says. “I’ve found an ideal balance (for the time being) between a very successful business and my personal life, which includes spending time with family and friends and enjoying the journey.”

“Wow,” Laura adds. “When I got into real estate in 2011, I never dreamed I would end up at the production level I am now, having a team with an incredible partner and teammates I consider friends… We have hit so many of our goals, some we never dreamed we would accomplish (Well, we dreamed!) The sky is the limit with this team!”
