Dyndi Gibson

Dyndi Gibson’s first profession was as a medical professional. For nearly 20 years, she worked in roles varying from radiologic technologist to MRI technologist to imaging director to office manager.
Dyndi’s parents owned a disco in Weatherford, Oklahoma, in the late ‘70s, and her father ran several other businesses during her childhood. As a result, Dyndi “always knew she wanted to be an entrepreneur.” So, while working in the medical field, she began investing in real estate.
“As I sat in surgery, I knew there had to be more for me than freezing in a small room for eight to 12 hours every day. I went to a Get Motivated seminar and was intrigued by a few real estate speakers talking about investing. So, I began reading and studying on how to invest in real estate,” Dyndi remembers.
Although she enjoyed her medical career, Dyndi developed a passion for real estate. Three years after she purchased that initial property, she made a bold decision to make a career shift into real estate full time.
FUN FACT: Dyndi’s parents named their disco, aptly named Disco Dyndi, after their daughter.
Getting Started
“I read a few books, went to another seminar, then decided to just jump in and put an offer on a house. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing,” Dyndi remembers. “I found an investor to fund the project, hired some contractors to do the work (while I was at work), and flipped my very first house for a nice profit.”
Dyndi realized that there was more to flipping a home than the profit. She had the opportunity to take a run-down property and transform it into a more livable space.
“Then it happened. The market crashed in 2009. Now what do I do?” Dyndi asks.
Dyndi turned to her plan B. She understood that real estate was always in a constant state of flux and that she needed to be flexible. So, as an investor, she shifted her strategy to buy and hold and she began selling real estate through more traditional means.
“I showed some beautiful homes and fell in love with the retail side of real estate,” Dyndi says. “I quickly realized I loved this side of real estate. I really enjoyed seeing my clients' faces light up when they found the perfect home. This was a new beginning for me.”
Living in Joy
Dyndi Gibson is the type of person that will dress up in a costume just because she feels like it. She’ll wear crazy colorful wigs just to stand out, and even her dog, Frenchie, has a bright pink tail. She cherishes her unique, distinctive ways.
“My uniqueness is my fun attitude,” Dyndi beams. “If you aren’t enjoying what you do, then why do it? I have spent too many years worrying about what others might think. You know it doesn’t matter what others think about you — that’s their business. If last year taught me anything, it is [that] life is too short. I lost more friends last year than I have my whole life. I want to make sure we can all enjoy what is left of our journey. I may be remembered as being silly or a tad crazy, but that’s okay. I made you smile, and that is what is important.”
Always Kind, Always Fun
Through the years, Dyndi has grown her real estate business to become one of Oklahoma’s best. In 2020, she closed 30 transactions for $5.5 million, and in 2021, she’s tracking to close over 40 transactions for over $6.5 million.
Yet, Dyndi’s path has not been without challenges. It’s these challenges precisely, however, that have helped guide her towards a life of gratitude and joy.
In 2014 — just one year into her real estate career — she divorced, her father passed away, and she lost two dogs, Danny and Sandi.
“I was single with two girls ages 11 and 15, and a house, a new BMW, attorney fees, and a mountain of new divorce debt in a 100% commission-based world where I am once again clueless.”
Dyndi was up for the challenge. She hustled and networked her way to success, kept her head high, and planted seeds for future success. Today, those seeds are in full bloom. Her daughters, Mikyla and Ainsley, are 23 and 18, respectively, and her granddaughter, Everly, is nearly a year old.
Through her struggles, Dyndi learned the value of kindness and compassion. She steps into the future with her eyes on offering others the space and care they need, regardless of what’s going on in their life.
“I’ve realized everyone you meet is going through something. It is imperative to always be kind.”
